Dear friends,
BHSA seeks student representatives to serve on the Disqualification Appeals, Clerkships, and Faculty Appointments committees. Descriptions of each committee and the application process/deadline follow.
Disqualification Appeals Committee (1) ...reviews appeals from students who have been academically disqualified. The student member will "serve only with the consent of the appealing student, and will participate in hearing appeals in a nonvoting, advisory capacity." Berkeley Law Academic Rule 3.02(B). Students must be in the Boalt/Bay Area during Summer 2010 and must be a member of the J.D. class of 2011 in good academic standing to serve.
Clerkships (2) ...discusses issues regarding Boalt's support and preparation for students and alumni pursuing judicial clerkships, in addition to evaluating potential changes in academic policy.
Faculty Appointments (2 + 1 alternate) ...plays an essential role in evaluating and identifying potential faculty hires, as well as organizing opportunities for Boalt students to meet potential hires.
Student representatives play an essential role in informing, and advocating for, policies that impact the quality of our education and experience at Boalt. Representatives will be asked to attend their committee meetings and engage with the work each committee performs in coordination with the BHSA. All students (JD, LLM, JSP) are eligible to serve as representatives.
The deadline for applications to serve on faculty committees is Friday, January 22nd at 5PM. To apply, please complete the enclosed application and send it, via email, to me at camille[dot]pannu(at)alum[dot]berkeley[dot]edu. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to shoot me an email.
Best,
Camille
