What the Fee Hikes Mean, and What You Can Do

Hi friends,

There has been a LOT of email traffic the last few days regarding the proposed fee hikes this Wednesday and Thursday, and it's hard to decipher what the numbers mean, if they are really as high or low as stated, where the money will go and whether we had adequate notice, etc.

On behalf of BHSA, I've drafted an introduction to understanding our fees and the increases proposed for the mid-year and for academic year 2010-2011 (we will supplement this with a longer view of the proposed increases through 2013 before next week).

There will be a BHSA Meeting TONIGHT (11/17) at 5PM, Room 110, to discuss the proposed fees, and there will be a townhall with the Dean on Tuesday, November 24th at 12:45pm in Room 105. This is an excellent opportunity to hold your elected representation and the administration accountable, so please consider attending, if you can. All BHSA meetings are open to the public and allocate time for public comment (location is pending; we're trying to book a room with a lot of space).

If you have any questions about fees or the impact on financial aid, or about tonight's meeting, please don't hesitate to contact me, your 2L reps (Aubrie Dillon and Shelby Myers), other officers of the BHSA, or the Financial Aid reps (Christine M*lumphy, Michelle M*rsey, Tam M*, and Thomas Fr*mpton).

Best,
Camille

  1. There is a rumor flying around that someone at this meeting called for a vote of no confidence in Dean Edley. Fact or fiction?

  2. BHSA, what is your opinion of the protesters that pulled the fire alarm?

  3. Why hasn't the BHSA spoken out against the protesters who illegally pulled the fire alarms last week?

BHSA, your silence on this issue suggests that your support their illegal actions since you supported the strikes.

Please distance yourself from these illegal actions.
